By the time he leaves office, Barack Obama will be the most humiliated president in American history. And we can thank Vladimir Putin for the final burn.
We earlier reported on Putin’s brilliant response to Obama throwing a toddler tantrum and kicking Russian diplomats out of their homes, all in reaction to the (false) idea that Russia was behind the DNC hacking. Putin did nothing. It was a fantastic response, the kind that says, “I really don’t care what you do, because – and I can’t stress this enough – nothing you do matters.”
For Barack Obama, this is true – nothing he does in his lame-duck session matters. But it wasn’t Putin’s message that really resonated, rather than the way in which he delivered his message: through the words of Michelle Obama herself. Espionage is one thing – a serious thing, to be sure – but turning your wife against you is quite another. That takes a special kind of talent.
Putin, and Trump, it seems, have that talent. And so it was that Putin delivered his message, a warning to Obama, written in Michelle’s own words. Fox News reports:
Putin said that he would not expel American diplomats in response to the Obama administration’s expulsion of Russian diplomats, with Fox News suggesting he would take the “high road.”
“Although we have the right to retaliate, we will not resort to irresponsible ‘kitchen’ diplomacy but will plan our further steps to restore Russian-U.S. relations based on the policies of the Trump administration,” Putin said Friday.
“We will not expel anyone,” he added.
The phrase ‘high road’ is there, clear as day – Michelle Obama’s phrase, now leaving the lips of Vladimir Putin, in a veiled insult to the lame-duck president.
What goes around, comes around, it seems.
Obama, pitifully, appears to have not gotten the point of Putin’s response at all. It’s rather sad. Our leaders – with the exception of Trump – are outclassed, and completely outwitted. One can only imagine the level of damage that four more years of Obama would have brought.
Trump, thankfully, recognized the insult, and earlier congratulated Putin on a smart move in regards to the diplomats. At least he can recognize when someone else is being trolled.
Not many in the mainstream media noticed the burn – Fox, actually, seems to be the only outlet that caught it – so it’s unlikely that Putin will be viewed as the shrewd campaigner that he is, or that Trump will be the clear judge of intelligence that he is. Still, for those of us watching Trump, these past few days have been especially vindicating, as Trump deftly maneuvers around sensitive political issues…rather than, say, simply coming out and calling Obama an idiot.
But that much we already knew.
