The Russian scandal is little more than a witch hunt. The democrats are pushing rumors to hurt Trump.
It all could have gone away quickly, had Attorney Jeff Sessions handled the investigation. Instead he refused.
That has created considerable tension between the President and his AG. But things aren’t as bad the media claims them to be.
Breaking his silence in his first set of interviews since President Donald Trump began publicly criticizing him for recusing himself from the Russia investigation, Attorney General Jeff Sessions called the president’s remarks “kind of hurtful” but insisted that he would stay on as long as Trump wants him in the position…
“I serve at the pleasure of the president. I’ve understood that from the day I took the job,” Sessions told The Associated Press.
Sessions made the remarks in El Salvador, where he’s on a two-day trip designed to foster cooperation with the United States on battling the MS-13 street gang.
In a separate interview with Fox News, Sessions insisted that in spite of the president’s remarks criticizing him — both in media interviews and on Twitter — he felt he had made the right call recusing himself.
“I understand his feelings about it,” Sessions told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson. “Because this has been a big distraction for him. But … I’m confident I made the right decision, a decision that’s consistent with the rule of law.”
Had Sessions not recused himself from the investigation, the American people would be confident it would have been done properly. Instead an outsider investigator is running the show, a man with questionable ties and motives.
Sessions could have ended it immediately, with definitive proof that Trump had nothing to do with Russia. Instead this has been dragged out for months, with nothing to back the democrats’ claims but lies and rumor-mongering.
President Trump’s statements are valid. Yet they do not mean he’s ready to kick out Sessions. As president he has every right to voice his concerns. The liberal media just aren’t used to a strong leader who speaks his mind.
Sessions’ comments prove his loyalty to the President and this country. He will continue to work hard to fulfill the president’s plans for America.
But if a change in leadership is coming, we won’t be surprised.
