The Air Force Has Just Clarified What’s Happening With Their B-52 Nuclear Bomber Planes

Trump came to power during the most dangerous time in modern American history – and our armed forces are busy preparing for it.

Maybe. Or maybe not.

It’s no secret that the foreign policy challenges Trump faces are tremendous. Any one of the hostile countries that need correcting is enough of a challenge, much less all of them – Syria, Russia, Iran, Afghanistan, China, Venezuela, and ISIS.

And, of course, North Korea.

That last country is probably the reason that we have a nuclear bomber on 24-7 alert.

But if you ask the Air Force about it, they’ll say it’s not true.

The Washington Examiner reports:

The Air Force is not preparing to put its B-52 nuclear bombers on 24-hour alert. A misunderstanding might have led to a report claiming those preparations are underway.

Updates to the B-52 Stratofortress aircraft are done routinely to ensure the service is prepared.

“We are not planning or preparing to put B-52s back on alert,” [the Pentagon] said.

The report in Defense One said the Air Force was preparing to put the long-range strategic bombers on around-the-clock alert for the first time since the Cold War.

Let’s recap – some reporters hear whispers about nuclear bombers being on 24-hour alert. The Air Force says they aren’t.

The Air Force gives the reporters a possible ‘source’ for the story, says that the reporters obviously but understandably confused what was going on, and then sends everyone on their merry way. It’s a neat little package.

I’m not sure what the truth is.

On the one hand, it’s easy to see how a reporter could get the story wrong. The press gets the story wrong all the time. Just ask Trump.

On the other hand…well, North Korea. Enough said.

Fact is, we’ve already put troops on alert in South Korea. We’ve already told Navy warships to stay close to the area. We’ve done everything else militarily that we can do – except get bombers ready. Just in case.

So it’s not at all odd that we’d have pilots on 24-7 alert. Even if the Air Force says we don’t.

Of course, even if we don’t, it should still be pointed out that the Air Force is busy updating the B-52 Stratofortress. Which isn’t something we need in any other war.

Do the math, folks. Either way, we’re clearly worried about North Korea.
