Donald Trump, the man who made the phrase ‘you’re fired!’ popular, has had a really hard time firing people in DC. The Swamp doesn’t want to be Drained.
Luckily for us, he’s found a way. And it completely bypasses all the problems the President had when he’s fired others. (Think of the uproar after the perfectly legal Comey firing. It’s probably best to avoid that.)
And Trump’s solution, when he needs to fire someone? Easy.
Just have someone else do it. In this case, someone with absolute loyalty to Trump – new communications director Anthony Scaramucci.
Anthony Scaramucci, the new White House communications director, threatened on Tuesday to fire his entire staff in an effort to stem the leaking that has plagued President Trump’s administration since almost the first day he took office.
“I’m going to fire everybody, that’s how I’m going to do it,” Scaramucci said. “You’re either going to stop leaking or you’re going to get fired.”
Scaramucci is dead serious about this. And he’s already thought of just how bad it might get, and he’s prepared for it.
Scaramucci added that he is willing to upend his entire team and rebuild it from scratch.
“If I’ve got to get this thing down to me and Sarah Huckabee,” he said, “then the leaking will stop.”
Anthony Scaramucci is the perfect man for this job. And hiring him was a stroke of genius.
As evidence, consider this: nearly everyone in DC didn’t want him hired – which is usually a good sign. Trump ignored that advice, and hired him anyway.
And we’ve already seen how the President’s gut feeling is usually correct. Especially when everyone in DC thinks he’s wrong.
Scaramucci came out swinging, and has already fired someone he thinks was leaking information to the press. Poor Michael Short was the first, but certainly not the last, to go.
And even with his firing, Scaramucci had to explain to the press just what was wrong with leaks.
“This is actually a terrible thing. The fact that you guys know about [Short’s firing] before he does really upsets me, you got that? So I should have the opportunity, if I have to let someone go, to let the person go in a very humane, dignified way.”
Scaramucci is perfect. He’s loyal, he’s ruthless, and he’s not afraid to tell the press when they’re wrong.
He’s Trump. And he’s the man we need.
