Trump Puts A Stop To Illegal Immigrants’ Freeloading With New 5 Year Plan

As we’ve said before, welfare fraud is a serious problembut we didn’t expect such an easy solution from Trump.

Two of Trump’s biggest promises during the campaign were, if you recall, welfare reform and immigration reform.

And, as it happens, the two go hand in hand – welfare fraud overlaps quite a bit with immigration fraud. Apparently, people love entering this country and taking advantage of its social safety nets.

Unfortunately for legal immigrants, that advantage won’t be available to them. At least not until five years after they enter the country.

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

President Donald Trump is asking Congress for new immigration policies that would prohibit new immigrants from going on welfare programs during their first five years in the country.

The president called for the policy during a speech in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Wednesday evening.

“The time has come for new immigration rules that say … those seeking immigration into our country must be able to support themselves financially and should not use welfare for a period of at least five years.”

Now, for those libs that might scream and shudder in protest, Trump’s new policy has serious grounding in US law.

Barring immigrants from welfare programs for five years would add to the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996. The Bill Clinton-era law allowed for the deportation of immigrants who became dependent on federal welfare programs within five years.

In short, Trump is enforcing rules set not by himself, or Obama, or W. Bush, but…Bill Clinton. The darling of the liberal Democratic DC and media elite. The man who could do no wrong, even while he did lots and lots and lots of things wrong.

Trump is taking his lead from that man. How could liberals possibly object to this?

(They can, they do, and they are. It’s just how they behave.)

The new policy will have an immediate effect on US taxpayers, too.

A Center for Immigration Studies report found 51 percent of legal and illegal immigrant households used at least one welfare program in 2012.

A more recent report found the average legal and illegal immigrant household costs taxpayers $6,234 in federal welfare benefits each year.

Which, to be clear, is a…considerable amount of money.

Lucky for us, Trump’s businessman skills are the same as his political skills.
