After a completely unfair barrage on his daughter, Mike Huckabee fires back

While it’s common knowledge that mama bears are notoriously protective of their cubs, papa bears are no slouches in that department either.

Regardless of the age of your offspring, it can be incredibly tough to sit idly by and watch them deal with a bunch of nonsense they really shouldn’t be subjected to.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is dealing with more than her fair share of ridiculous stuff these days, and her pops is about sick and tired of it.

While he has no doubt that his daughter can handle it herself while continually knocking it out of the park on the performance front, he still has a crystal clear message for her detractors.

The Hill shares the scoop:

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee on Wednesday shot back at “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski’s criticism of White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, defending his daughter against “the women who say they are feminists.”

“She deserves better from other women. And it just amazes me that even the women who say they are feminists are doing everything they can to discredit my daughter,” Mike Huckabee said Wednesday on Fox’s “The Story with Martha MacCallum.”

“But to her credit, my daughter stands strong and tough and walks into that lions’ den of a press room every day and I believe represents women and represents the president and represents strength in an incredible way,” he added.

Each and every day, Sanders performs her job with aplomb.

Is she perfect?

Nope, nor should she be expected to be.

That said, she stands at the podium to take the incoming without ducking for cover, and she always keeps her cool while providing insight into the inner workings of the Trump administration.

In short, she does exactly what she’s supposed to be doing, but critics and Trump detractors still feel the need to treat her like a piñata.

His remarks come after Brzezinski expressed awe that Sanders would defend President Trump after he attacked Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) by tweeting that she would do “anything” for a campaign contribution. Gillibrand and other lawmakers blasted Trump’s remark as sexual innuendo.

“Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office ‘begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump,” the president tweeted in part.

Sanders denied the remark had sexual overtones and told reporters that those who interpreted it as such had their minds in the “gutter.”

Brzezinski called it “reprehensible” that the president would say something so “derogatory and disgusting” about a woman.

While Brzezinski’s latest diatribe is par for the course on the Trump bash-fest known as Morning Joe, this one really stands out.

Brzezinski prances around on her high horse each and every day while scoldingly ripping Trump and his administration as if she’s some kind of mom that knows best.

She seems to believe that she’s the moral authority for the nation as a whole, but her act comes across as if she’s a scorned woman with a score to settle.

Needlessly taking a shot at a woman that is merely doing her job to the best of her abilities is beyond unnecessary, but this apparently passes for biting commentary in the Trump era.

The next time Brzezinski feels the need to lecture Sanders about doing the right thing, perhaps she should take a gander at the various scandals that have rocked her employer in recent months instead.
